The small villages of Provence
Driving around Var visiting the small villages is a magnificent experience and pretty much why we moved here. You have cliffside Chateaudouble next to us, tiny Ampus, Bargeme and Comps sur Artuby in a more moutainous terrain with eagles hovering the sky, Callas and Claviers for the local spirit and beautiful Fayence set on its hilltop nearby. That's just some of them. They all have lively markets every week and sometimes special markets for pottery, local food and wine etc.
Gorges du Verdon
30-40 minutes drive away we have Europe's greatest gorge - the Gorge du Verdon. It's a good daytrip going round it and visiting Moustier Saint Marie on the way with its hillside chapel and lively village known for its fayence. You get an impressive view of the huge gorge on both riversides at different viewpoints. We have all the tips to make your trip easy and memorable.
The Côte d'Azur
The well known and beautiful coast of southern France is not far away. You can take a day on the beach, go shopping in Nice, stroll around Cannes or simply find a good place to eat fresh fish in any of the harbors. There is a beautiful drive along the coast, the corniche de l'Esterel, that goes from Saint Raphäel to Mandelieu. It takes about an hour or two and is definitely worth the time and the trip.
